Town Council at Wilton Village Market
Published: 16 March 2026
On Saturday 14th March, we attended the Our Local Markets event at Wilton Village.
This new market, which is being held for one weekend a month until May, featured a number of artisan food and craft stalls, along with a number of local businesses.
After the market was officially opened by the Mayor of Wilton, Cllr Chris Harrison, we had the opportunity to speak to residents, visitors and local business owners about a wide range of local issues. These included our strategic plan and projects for the next year, the Parish Precept, Fire Station consultation, the town centre market, our facilities and planned improvements.
Speaking at the market, Cllr Harrison said "Every stall here today is a local business - a maker, a grower, a creator - someone who's put their name above the door and their work on the table. That's not a small thing. When you spend money here this morning, it goes back into this community. The council has been working hard on improvements to Wilton's managed facilities and community spaces, and events like this one sit right alongside that ambition. A destination town isn't just one thing - it's markets, it's history, it's independent shops, it's a riverfront worth strolling along. We want Wilton to be all of those things."
