Deputy Mayor

The Deputy Mayor of Wilton and Deputy Chairman of the Town Council for 2024-2025 is Councillor Charlotte Blackman.

Charlotte came to Wilton in 1998 to work as a Complaints Handler and later as a health Insurance Claims Administrator, for Friends Life. She and her husband are now both retired. They enjoy cycling, both locally and some long-distance adventure including Calais - Nice and Lands End - John O’Groats. They also enjoy touring in their Motorhome.

Charlotte was the Chair of Trustees at the Wilton Community Centre for over 10 years. She is also a trustee for The Michael Herbert Memorial Hall and Wilton United Charities. Charlotte is a regular volunteer at Wilton’s Riding for the Disabled. During the COVID-19 pandemic she (and her husband) cycled many miles delivering shopping and prescription medication to residents in Wilton and the surrounding area, as part of Wilton Help. They also volunteered at the vaccination centre.
Charlotte became a Councillor in 2002. During this time Charlotte has overseen some major projects such as the design and installation of the outdoor gym at Castle Meadow and the design and installation of the Adventure Trail in Minster Street - both ideas she brought back from her travels. She was also responsible for the Wilton flag; the sign over the door of the Council offices and the beginning of the ongoing program of road/street replacement signs.
