Fire Station Consultation
Published: 16 February 2026
Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) is proposing to shut a number of fire stations, including the one here in Wilton, due to “significant financial challenges”.
At the Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service Authority meeting at Salisbury City Hall on Tuesday, it was decided to open a 13-week consultation on the plans, with a final decision expected on 30th June.
Wilton Fire Station not only serves our town and the surrounding villages, but also provides a valuable secondary response to incidents within the city of Salisbury to the east, the busy A36 & A303 to the north & west, along with the rural villages to the south.
Residents are encouraged to take part in the consultation and share their views on the proposed closure of eight fire stations across the counties of Wiltshire & Dorset. You can do so by visiting the consultation link: https://www.dwfire.org.uk/…/proposed-station-closures/
