2021 Elections - a helpful guide

Published: 30 April 2021

One week to go until election day!

It’s now just one week to go until a number of elections take place.

On 6 May the Wiltshire Council unitary, town and parish, and Police and Crime Commissioner elections take place – there are also a number of neighbourhood plan referendums on the same day.

If you’re not already registered to vote, it’s unfortunately too late to register now.

Polling stations will be open from 7am until 10pm and in Wilton the Community Centre (Wilton Community Centre, West Street, SP2 0DJ) will be acting as the local polling station. you can find a full list of polling stations on Wiltshire Council’s website, your local station will also be printed on your polling card. Please be aware that your polling station may be different to previous elections, so please check before you set off. There are 348 stations up and down the county.

Postal votes

If you have applied to vote by post please post the packs back as soon as possible after you have received them.

They need to arrive by 10pm on 6 May, so if you feel they might not make it by that date via the post, then you are able to hand deliver them to your local polling station (which is stated on your poll card) or County Hall in Trowbridge.

Keeping you safe at polling stations

For those voting in person, measures will be in place at the polling stations to keep you as safe as possible, including hand sanitiser available, a one-way system, and protective screens at the check-in desk. Please also to remember to bring your own pen or pencil to vote and a mask to wear (unless exempt).

You may have to queue for a bit longer than usual as numbers inside polling stations have been reduced due to social distancing, so check the weather forecast before you set off so that you can prepare accordingly.

Bring your poll card along to vote if you can as it does help the process, but you will still be able to vote if you don’t have it.

Please take a look at this short video to give you an understanding of what to expect when you come out to vote next week.
